Shatta Wale fined GHC2, 000 over fake gun attack story

Dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale has pleaded guilty to the publication of false news.

He has, therefore, been fined GHC2, 000 or in default be jailed for three months.

The lawyer for the musician, Jerry Avenogbor, told the court that the artiste was a first-time offender who was remorseful of the act.

Handlers of the musician on Monday (18 October) evening alleged on social media that Shatta Wale had been shot by unknown gunmen.

The police, later on Tuesday (19 October) arrested Shatta Wale and two others – Kojo Owusu Koranteng, also known as Nana Dope and Eric Venator, alias Gangee.

He has been fined GHC2,000 in default of which he will be imprisoned for three months.

On Wednesday, (29 June) the musician changed his plea from not guilty to guilty at the Accra Circuit Court.
