Nigerian Writer Chukwuemeka Ike dies aged 88

Celebrated Nigerian author Chukwuemeka Ike has died at the age of 88.

His sister, Emeka Okoli, who confirmed his death to BBC Igbo, said he died on Thursday in the eastern state of Anambra where he was the traditional ruler of Ndikelionwu community.

Ike authored several books, including popular title The Bottled Leopard published in 1985.

His works were mainly a reflection of the Igbo people and their culture, which he told in a flowing prose that became his trademark.
