Millions of dollars’ worth of state funds that were stolen by a Nigerian former governor and laundered in the UK have now been returned to Nigeria, local media quoting a government statement report.
Former Delta State Governor James Ibori was convicted of money laundering in the UK in 2012.
Prosecutors say he stole an estimated $165m (£117m) from the oil-rich state.
The $5.8m (£4.2m) recovered by UK agencies is to be invested in infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-to-Ibadan Expressway, the Abuja-to-Kano road and the second Niger Bridge.
